I have been thru this several times and always forget in between occurrences. However in this case I just had the same experience with the OS 9 helper recently. The problem is that the archive you have downloaded is incomplete or corrupted in some way. As you say, normally Stuffit just does it's work and then shuts down. In this it tries to expand the file and can't so it just sits there waiting for you to tell it what to expand. You need to download the file again. It took me two downloads before I got a clean file and even then I'm not sure the helper works properly. I ended up working around it. This brings up a question I've had about 9.2 on unsupported machines. Does (or should) this list cover this aspect of "unsupported" activities? The only other place I've found is the OWC web-site but they want $10 to join the forum (not that I think this is unreasonable for hosting the list).
