Is there a way to tell which cache (Sonnet card or on-board) my Mac is using
under OS X? I know that it's working correcly under 9 (Metronome tells me),
but under OS X, there seems to be no way for it to tell me. Apple System
Profiler says 512k of cache is available, but that doesn't help because I
have 512k on-board and 512k on the upgrade card, and I'd like to use the
cache on the card, because it runs at 200MHz as opposed to 50. I've
downloaded/installed Sonnet's OS X cache enabler, but it didn't cause any
noticable speed-up, so I don't know if it works. I know you're supposed to
remove on-board cache, but mine is soldered on. The reason I'd like to use
the cache on the upgrade card is that I only get 20-25fps at 640x480 in
Quake3 when I should be getting 30-40 at least, and I need to use this
computer for LAN parties (more portable than my Windows tower). The specs
are as follows:
PowerMac 9500/132 w/Sonnet G3/400 512k
4GB Quantum HD
1GB IBM HD
344MB RAM
ATI Rage128 PCI video
USB mouse

Thanks,
Shawn Mulligan
