Hi again,
I noted with interest the discussions of Open Office (a
brilliant package I have running on my Win XP Pro box & which has
been VERY stable)
However, on my brand new less than 3 week G4 (Mirror front
dual 1GHz), I installed the OSX beta, which also installed X11 as
part of the install. I did this on Thursday night late (wouldn't
start, just launched X11, showed the Open Office splash screen & then
crashed out).
Come Friday morning, cold-boot, I had been running maybe 5
minutes, using Eudora for email & I got the 'You must restart your
computer' multi-language screen & subsequent restarts gave me all
sorts of console output & one restart, that output said 'System
Failure: CPU=1: Code=00000001(Corrupt Stack)'
Now, since reformatting & reinstalling OSX up to 10.2.3, the
machine hasn't skipped a beat, so I'm out to lunch as to whether it's
hardware or a software fault, but beware if you're going to install
Open Office beta - I'm certainly waiting until the final for my next
attempt.
