I have posted a series of instructions for this task, in the post titled 'again wherefore iTunes...' -- and I have also posted this heads-up because it's a technique that seems to be heretofore undiscussed. The conventional wisdom (at least from documentation) seems to be that you can't do a clean install with XPostFacto. But I did. And I think it solved some problems for me, although it could have been just the switch from 10.1.x to 10.2.x. I couldn't install Jaguar WITHOUT a clean install, so it's difficult for me to tell which of the two new elements solved my sound problems, but I hear from others that Jaguar *didn't* solve their problems, so I am tempted to focus on the clean install. I'm not saying this is the end-all. But see the post I named for more.
