Connect the old Mac directly to the printer and check that it can print. Now set it to share the printer over EtherTalk (AppleTalk on Ethernet). In Classic mode on the 7300, select the printer in the Chooser. You will find you can print to it over the network from Classic, though not directly from OS X. You may have endless fun fiddling with settings and connections, but it can be made to work. There are also software gizmos available to route to a LocalTalk-only laserwriter, which allow similar re-use of old parts with OS X. None of this is very elegant. If you've got the money, just buy new gear. If, like me, you take a perverse pleasure in preventing deliberate obsolescence, have a go.
