I have no idea why it would cause problems in OSX, but 9.1 does not support the Radeon 7k. You can 'hack' it by pulling out the OpenGL drivers from the OS 9.2.1 update and putting them into the 9.1 System, or use OS9Helper <www.os9forever.com> to install 9.2.x.
Again, if this is the cause, it would be the first I've heard of it. Usually under 9.1, you just don't get accelerated video with a Radeon 7k. Also, make sure that you haven't installed (or are going to install) any drivers from the ATI website. The drivers that come with the 10.2.4 update are the newest for OSX. I've hear that the older ones have issues with 10.2.4. -Robyn huh, wha...A sig?
