Dan have you tried this? In XPFacto at the top of the screen find I 
think "advanced" drop down. This lets you make some open firmware 
settings. Choose keyboard as input device and the ATI video card as out 
put device. (it shows up as aty something but you will see it) You 
should now get the grey apple startup. This can sometimes be helpful 
for trouble shooting as if you use verbose startup it shows what loads 
and what doesn't and also if it stops loading you can see where and 
what likely made it stop. later Will S
