I've never been much into sound & voice technology, but I was unhappy
with the quality of the voices in the OS X text-to-speech. In OS 9
there are two voices that have the description 'high quality' after
their names - Victoria & Bruce (these HQ voices are much better than
their regular counterparts, but use much bigger resources). The OS 9
voices don't work in OS X as far as I can tell, and my attempts to use
them under Classic failed. Many OS 9 sound files and clips ask for an
application when launched in OS X. What application would that be? Can
these OS 9 voices & files be used in OS X? If not, is there a
conversion workaround to allow them to work?
