I've had some interesting experiences with my Sonnet Tempo HD ATA card in a PM8600 but with Sonnet G4-800. In order to boot from it, I have to not have a system folder on any of the SCSI drives. Apparently the Tempo HD spins up too slowly, so any other drive takes precedence. This cold explain the hot boot vs cold boot problem with XRL8 card. Booting with apple-option-shift-delete also allowed Tempo to boot.
This slow booting also caused problems with trying to install OSX on to the Tempo HD. I had to swap with a Beige G3.
Robert,
I am trying to get my brain wrapped around this problem. What is the speed of the drive you have connected to your Tempo ATA card? I have never had any problems with my ATA 100 card. The drive attached is also an ATA 100. I have a System Folder on the original 4 GB SCSI drive.
