I've a PowerTower Pro 225 that I am upgrading with a Radeon 7000 Mac Edition, SIIG ATA controller, USB and FireWire cards, lots of RAM, a G4 450 on a ZIF carrier, and an 80 gig ATA drive. The processor is still in the mail so I haven't installed Jag yet. Now, my question is this: Would it make a difference if I format the drive under 9.1 right now and then XPostFacto Jaguar onto it (I want it to be my sole hard drive, and therefore my boot drive), or can I format the drive using whatever utilities are on the install CD? And if I can, should I? I wouldn't think that it would make a difference, but some of the problems you guys have described would never have occurred to me.
