Tim,
I don't think you can do anything to make it work.
I don't give up that easily.... :))
I can boot from XPostFacto into the Jag boot CD and use Disk Utility to repair, but that doesn't seem to get everything. There has to be a way to put enough on a CD to make it like the Jag boot CD and add some repair utilities....
Heres a thought - I assume youv'e got toast? Create a disk image of 650 - 700 MBs then try running XPF to install kernel, BootX, etc into that image and then try copying contents of first Jag CD there as well then burn a CD (Check CD type that Jag is first though and copy format style)
This may do it
As an aside what's the G4 800 like? I've only got G3/300 in 9600 and am debating what my next upgrade strategy is - cost of G4 800 in Aus is expensive against a new mac - even a G5!
I bought my G4/800 when it first came out. Expensive, but the price has come down quite a bit since then. It rocks! I have 1.2 gig of ram as well and OS Jag loves it. I also game alot and the G4/800 up from my G3/400 was a big improvement.
G4 800 here in Aus retails for $860 (approx US$565!!) where as G5 1.6 is approx $3500 (approx US$$2300) - yes we do get ripped over here!!
I'm thinking G5 myself, now..... ;))
I've just got to convince my better half that I really do need one, might be hard after I've just bought a Newton Message Pad 2000 to mess around with as well (I told her it was my fathers day present to my self - tee hee ;-)
Cheers
Simon
