There is also a CD-ROM firmware update for the 24x IDE units in the Beige G3's, which I guess straddles the Old World/New World divide.
An Apple Care Sherlock search of "firmware CD-ROM" will show the document & software (ID# 24714)
It was actually a second update 2.0. This is firmware for the CD unit itself, and not the computer.
