I'm curious about something, I was wondering if some of you OS X gurus out there could answer my question...

Say I have one or two PCI cards installed on my Mac. I installed drivers for OS 9.1 and OS X 10.2. Now, I decide to remove the PCI cards, and maybe replace them with a similar device, or change to something completely different (ie: a USB card with a USB 2.0 card, or a Ethernet card with a Firewire card).

What happens to my old drivers? Do they just recognise that the hardware is no longer there and don't load, or do they load up anyway? Is there a folder that contains all of these drivers like in Classic MacOS, where one could delete unneeded drivers?

Thanks
