OS9/OSX boot

I am experiencing either in a 7600/G4 or the Wallstreet with BlueChip 
G3/500 the following symptom. After a restart with the option key 
pressed, in order to boot from the OS 9, the partition with OS X is 
no longer available and OS 9 says it cannot recognize it and suggests 
to initialize it.

The only workaround is to boot off the jaguar CD and repair the disk 
with disk utility.

Ideas?
