There have been a couple of discussions on partitioning. Having just finished a really bad period with my PM9600/G4 800 running 10.2.6,
So my "should have done this originally" partitioning scheme for system volumes is:
OS X 6.5 GB OS X Repair 1.4 GB OS 9.1 1.0 GB OS Classic 1.0 GB
I have to work around the 8 GB limit on my machine, obviously if you don't you could expand both the OS X and OS X Repair volumes.
You do not have an 8 GB limit on your machine. I have OSX on a 18 gig drive and 9.2.2 on another drive in my 9600/G4/800.......
I have OS X installed on a IDE drive connected to a Sonnet PCI-IDE card. OS X will not install on a partition that has any part beyond 8 GB, I know for sure because I had to re-partition my HD for the installer to allow me to select a partition the first time I installed it.
