I did it. Put an ATA drive in a Beige G3 and installed X on it and then put it back in my 8600.
I did run XPostFacto on the drive prior to putting it in the Beige G3.


If I were to take my hard drive to a friend with a supported machine and have him install OS X on the drive, could I then put it in my machine and groove? I've read that you can't format the drive in a supported machine and still get it to work, but I've already formatted my drive with Drive Setup.
