It hangs right after the L2 cache tester on boot. I believe i'll have to

You got it right in the last sentence. You can not install Panther on any old world machine with on board video. However it may work if you add a PCI Video card . Apple has removed support for all but the Radeon 7000 card. Ryan has added back support for cards that worked with 10.2 . You are otherwise wasting your time trying to install. At some point Ryan will do his best to fix this issue. The beige G3 which has built in Video doesn't even work with an added on PCi Video card. So there is much work still to be done. Will S
