Will,

Point wasn't where the cards are made it's weather they are ATI retail products or Cards built using the ATI chipset, which don't have to include all features, design, RAM type etc that ATI do. This is where the variation occurs with EPROM size, DRAM capacity, dual head, etc, etc its all about costs. So not ALL cards can be flashed as you seem to be implying?

As you point out Powercolor, Hercules and Saphire aren't the only other company to make ATI based cards. Others include, Asus, Gigabyte, IXmicro etc, etc. That's why I suggested that people check out sites that have info on flashing cards before just going and buying whatever ATI based card they can find at local computer shop - because as soon as you attempt to flash then there goes warranty, returnability etc. Exactly the same applies to GeForce cards as well. But most importantly some cards will refuse to work in legacy Macs irrespective of how they are flashed. (ATI and GeForce)

Similarly whilst it is most common to flash in a PC it can be done on the Mac - however there seems to be very few apps around and they are usually card specific (ie: Brand, Manufacturer, etc)

Question to ATI was based around why are the cards priced so differently when you get more with PC card. Not why can't I flash a PC card for my mac. As you know manufacturers don't like you being able to do things like that as they think we are all dumb and are happy to pay the dollars for an "optimised" card. Should see the price of the Mac edition here in Aus often over A$320

Sorry to rest of group, promise to take off line if this goes on much more ;-)
