Well, okay.

But later versions of the Mac LaserWriter driver (LW 8.5 onwards?) can print to standard UNIX lpd queues, and can be installed on earlier Mac OS machines. So I'm not sure why it would be helpful to print via a PS file if the Mac can print direct to the lpd queue.

Given that Mac systems earlier than OS X can't easily talk SMB (without expensive software add-ons), they can't easily see the folders shared on Windows hosts. Obviously some versions of Windows (2KPro, XP Pro, server various) can share via AFP or AppleTalk too, but it's hardly a popular option in the Windows world. So I still think going direct to lpd (or maybe CUPS) is the easier option for sharing printing on a mixed network.

Hi,

There is win program LPD (print deamon) that make print services like in W
XP and others.

Autor agreed to wider it's functionality about Watch folder functionality.
So every computer that will be able to share PC drive a save file to it will
be able to print to any printer connected to that PC or even other in the
network. No need to fight configuration.
Tha's mean printing even from Mac OS 8.x or mmaybe even older will be able
print via saving PS or PDF file to watch folder. GhostScript for Windows is
needed (freeware).

This feature can be implemented within next six month.

Best wishes
