It doesn't matter if it's a PC card or not - mine is a genuine Mac Edition 7000 and it still did it in 10.2.

I had Mac 32MB ATI Radeon in 9600 w sonnet G3/300/1Mb and 9.1, 10.1, 10.2.x were all fine on my config. I never allowed my machines HDs to spin down as I was usually not away from it for that long whilst it was on. Screen sleeping/screen saver or marine aquarium all woke up fine.
