It didn't used to be, when you looked at comparable performance and MTBF, but pretty soon they quit making high-end drives in IDE or low-end drives in SCSI and you couldn't *find* comparable drives to line up against each other: Apple had to quit using SCSI because they simply couldn't get cost-effective drives for desktops any more. It's only recently that you've started seeing IDE in real fileserver systems... in dedicated RAID boxes engineered to hide the IDE from the computer they're connected to. -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
