I've heard of PowerLogix cache configuring software but have never had the nerve to use it.
I have a antique Daystar Genesis MP 800+ Macintosh clone with a 800 MHz Sonnet G4 processor upgrade card, 1,500 MB of RAM, ATI PCI Radeon video running OS 10.2.6 with OS9.1 and 10.2.8 with OS9.2 on different hard drives.
I have never done anything about configuring the cache.
Is there something I should be doing that I'm not doing that would speed up the system ?
The Sonnet card seems to have completely overcome the limitations of the 50 MHz internal bus. A solid performer.
Performance is very comparable to my other G4, a new 1 GHz iBook with 133 MHz bus, so there can't be anything really too terribly wrong with the Daystar setup the way it is but I'd like to know.

L2 or L3 cache is as important to OS X speed as processor speed.
Well, yes, I know, that's why I assumed that was the problem. The question is
how to enable the cache on the Crescendo. I'd been told not to use third-party
cache tools on the Sonnet card, which is why I was trying to use Sonnet Tune
Up.
I had a problem with L2CacheConfig on the Beige but PowerLogix's free cache control software worked perfectly. I've used L2CacheConfig successfully on all my PowerSurge machines.
And it works on the Crescendo?
