Hi there. Sorry if this is a bit OT, but I figure my Rev c iMac is _almost_ in the realms of unsupported :-)
How well would MacOS 10.3 run on my Rev c iMac (the fruit coloured 266MHz G3, Rage Pro 6MB VRAM model)? Acceptably fast? Much slower than 8.6 which I currently run? I'm shortly going to be upgrading my RAM to 384MB from 160MB and will swap my 6GB HD for a much larger size. I'll put the old one in a USB enclosure for external use. As a result I'm wondering if a system upgrade is in order as well. Overlooking any compatibility issues with my older software (which anyone would face, anyway), which should I move up to - MacOS 9 or 10.3? Or should I simply stay with 8.6 (though it's low limit on the number of open files has been annoying me)? I'd like to be able to use Safari and Apple's Mail or Bare Bones Software's MailSmith and have as many files open as I like, but not if it's going to be painfully slow. I can live with a little speed reduction, but not excessively so.
