The Sonnet processor is definitely a boost, but the bus speed of only 67 MHz is a drag. Overall my G3 is faster but slower in some aspects like opening a Hard disk. Having said that I haven't timed before and after and it would be slow I'm sure next to a G5.

I also have a G3 700MHz iBook, but it has a faster bus speed than the B&W G3. That iBook is a little faster than the G3 with the 1 GHz Sonnet implant. Putting the Sonnet processor was a cheap skate attempt to keep up with the times and overall I'm satisfied. So now I can wait till the price drops or the G6 appears:-) I also have many apps only for OS 9.2 so I'm stuck there like others. Abandonned.

Eric, can you tell me what kind of speed changes you noticed when going to the 1GHz upgrade. Also, by any chance, have you tried Dosbox on it? I want to play temptest 2000, but it sucks on my B&W upped G4-500.

Yes it will go all the way to OS 10.3.5.
