I just managed to use ...
"disktool" - to get the online documentation, followed by
"disktool -l" to list the disks and partitions and
"disktool -m <partition>" <partition> was "disk3s1s2" in my particular case
logged into my 10.3.8 Blue and White via ssh. That seemed too easy.
I still have to try it on my 10.2.8 C500. The 6400 (and clones) do have wonky SCSI controller hardware so I'm not sure it will work on it.
I'll try later on.

You could try hdiutil (man hdiutil), hdid (man hdid), and mount (man mount).
