No, SheepShaver definately works on OS X and x86.  I had downloaded and 
played with a copy a couple weeks back, using it on both platforms.  The 
drawback was networking support, or the lack thereof.  It didn't seem all 
that bad.

So, x86 Macs could probably use SheepShaver...and the networking support 
would or will now be seriously sought out.
