disk part should be done with the OS 9 cd, then OS 10.2 shouldn't be a
prob.
I have deleted all parts with a linux cdrom, I had the same prob with
xpf and 10.3, but my G3 isn't strable, black vide problem ..
10.2 is stable... but the battery must be there ..

I'll try...
I think that on a Beige you will need XPostFacto for that. But
sure, go for
it.
Officialy, all Beige's run 10.2.8 without needing XPostFacto.
I have seen several Beige's running unstable in 10.2.8 but very OK in
10.2.6
There are also known several Beige's refusing to run any OS X at all.
(See
the archives of the G-list foex).

I have to check which version of 10.2 it is, then.
And what about that list (G-list foex)? Then again, it does run 10.1,
and I had it running 10.2 (10.3?) w/xpf until I ran into the disk
partitioning problem (having forgotten to do so beforehand). And then
it would not "wake up" anymore (or as long as I could bear to wait).
Thus I tossed in 10.1.
One more thing to try is Carbon Copy Cloner, cloning the OSX startup
partition on my other G3.

I'm afraid so!
No other peripherals, cards or such stuff.
Not even a Zip drive or a floppy?
Floppy is in-built (and hasn't made problems on the other G3, neither
has an external Zip (used mostly as a daisy-chain-device for scanner &
CD-burner), on the other G3. Think the other Zip I have was not
connected when I tried the install.
OK, good.
If you *do* have these or anything else, try temporarily disconnecting
them while installing, then reconnecting them afterwards if
successful.
OK. Will re-format drives according to your suggestion & re-try.
Good luck!
And: 10.2 didn't work. Tried booting from it, then Xpostfacto
somehow
toook over and it booted in OS9 (on its own disk). Somehow XPF
changed things, so it wouldn't boot in 10.1 anymore, so I had to
reinstall that.
That sounds /very/ odd. A wipe, repartition & reformat should cure
that. But in any case, if it won't boot natively, there's no harm in
trying XPF in any case. Sometimes it can help with installing even a
supported OS.
But Bruce says 10.2 is supported? Well, ok. First hardware-cleaning,
then software.
Again, /lycka til!/
Takk! / Thanks!
