Interesting. The only problem I had with mine was transparency artifacting when playing DVDs.

I've never had a crash that I can trace to PCI Extreme. Of course I also had a fully loaded PCI bus. (one 2930, one 2940, and the Radeon)

It might be that PCI Extreme works better with the Radeon Mac Edition than it does with the 7000 which had much reduced texture RAM.
