If you're not familiar with working with unix control files, BE CAREFUL - you can break a heck of a lot of things on your box with just a single misplaced character.
Make a backup of the file before you start working on it. # cp /etc/hostconfig /etc/hostconfig.ORIG It's just a flat text file - you can edit with any text editor. When you re-save the file after editing, ensure that your editor does not add a .txt or some other silly extention to the filename - if it does - it won't be read by the rc startup scripts (this is why you can safely make backup copies of it as desribed above) After editing, the simplest way for you to get the control file to be re-read is to reboot your machine. -coop On 5/5/06, dan_A <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

Are you talking about going into Terminal? If not where can I find this file to make the change. I did a search and found nothing which is why I asked if this is in Terminal. Is it a file to be opened in a text editor like BBedit?
