There is no doubt about the best night at Roxy in 2006. It was Animat's Belleville Rendezvous Rescored on a damp Sunday in September, which saw an absolutely packed venue hear a fantastic rescore by the brilliant Sheffield musicians. Someone actually fainted. It was that good. In fact, following the Roxy performance, the show was picked up for a UK tour of Picturehouse Cinemas, selling out every venue they played. Since then, Roxy has welcomed the likes of Ollie Teeba (The Herbaliser) rescoring the classic Dinosaur movie The Lost World, Digitonal & The Media Lounge to remix and rescore The Shining, and last month Ed Simpson (Lautrec) performing to Wong Kar-Wais Days of Being Wild. But after a 9 month wait, Animat are back with a special preview of their new project, ahead of several festival and cinema dates in the summer. The ultimate chilled road movie, the Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated The Straight Story tells the tale of one man and his lawnmower and their epic journey across Americas mid-west. Animat will accompany the film incorporating dialogue and sound from the existing soundtrack with a mixture of their own unique brand of dubby downtempo and an eclectic selection of tracks from their DJ archive. Animat will also be DJing and playing before and after the screening, so arrive early to get a table and something to eat and enjoy a unique live cinema experience at Roxy. ........................
