TWO 'oopses', really:

1) I had to go out of town, so I didn't get the website corrected, so *this sale is accidentally still going on* until I get to the website to cancel it, which will now be Sunday, 15 November 2009.

2) I forgot to include the congregations listed in the Evangelical- Lutheran Liturgical Congregations locator/subscribers to the Lutheran Liturgy Forum in the previous release, so we want them to get a chance to get in on this, too.

Therefore, once again:

As we prepare to release the 2nd edition of "Gottesdienst, God's Grace in Liturgy and Life," a catechetical workbook being used both for juniors and adults by pastors and congregations in (at least) the ELDoNA, ELS, LCC, and LCMS, we've temporarily reduced our prices for those new to the book. PLEASE NOTE: purchasing the first edition entitles you to download and print the second edition for FREE when it is released...so take advantage of our pricing of $10 for an individual license, $15 for a family license (print copies for everyone who lives under your roof), and $200 for a congregational license (unlimited reprints), because on Monday these prices will become $15, $25, and $350.

For samples of the material and to place an order, visit

For a review of the material by the Wyoming District (LCMS) Worship Committee, please see

where the review begins on p. 31. (Note, too, that a noted deficiency in the first edition--lack of the Table of Duties--will be remedied in the second edition [the upgrade to which is yours for free], and that references for extended readings in the Explanation of the Catechism will include CPH's recent reprint of the 1986/1991 edition, as well as that of The Confessional Lutheran Church of Finland.)

A review by the Rev. Chad Kendall (LCMS), who has had several years' worth of experience with this book follows:

First, Mark Miller catechized me very well in 1993. Then Eric Stefanski
comes along in 1995, I believe. Stefanski took me and some others through what was to become his present catechesis. (I still have the original, by
the way) I learned a ton about the liturgy and its theological framework
through this book.

Recently, Stefanski let me be a "test-pilot" for this present catechesis
book. This past fall I began using the Grabauski "Gottesdienst" for my 7th grade confirmation class. I want to tell all that my catechumens have been
in tune with this. They have actually been interested. It has sparked
good class discussion--yes, with 7th graders. I know, I know, its hard to
believe that there would actually be a 7th grade class interested. :-)

There is no "busy work." The catechist takes the catechumens through the
liturgy step by step and interweaves the catechism in with the liturgy.
Why is it important to teach the liturgy and catechesis as one package?
First, the liturgy is where doctrine belongs. The liturgy is where
doctrine is lived and breathed. The Grabauski catechesis teaches
Christians how to "breathe," as well as why they breathe the way they do. This is the only antidote that I know of that can adequately stomp out the
church growth mentality bred in people today. I can actually say that I
was taught with this book and now I am using it to teach my own people.

Stefanski's catechesis will be worth purchasing. There is so much
meaningful content that you will never find yourself running out of things
to talk about in class. Stefanski even has small quotes from the
confessions interspersed as a way of simply introducing our confessions.
To my knowledge, there is no other catechesis which offers so much content
in a way that confirmands can understand. My 7th graders now know why we
Lutherans are a liturgical and confessional church--and they are proud to
be such.

Please note, too, that if you purchase this text, I am always available to answer your questions, etc., as you learn/teach it. You can ask me via email, our discussion board, or telephone (though I'd suggest not trying to reach me ten minutes before your class session! Yeah, you know who you are! ;-) ).

This discount sale ends at this Sunday night, *15* November 2009, at 11:59 pm.
