"There was a rainbow round about the throne...And I will look upon it, that I
remember the everlasting covenant..." Revelation 4:3, Genesis 9:12-16
Dear Christians: Greetings in Him who is enthroned far above every lord and
king, in the heavens, Jesus.
Please call to mind our monthly meeting of the Lutheran Confessions Study Club,
scheduled to convene for the month of March, Monday, the first, at 9:30am,
here, at Saint John Lutheran Church, Audubon, Iowa..
We will continue our study of "Original Sin" from the Formula of Concord. There
it is written:
Because of this corruption, too, the entire corrupt nature of man is
accused and condemned by the Law, unless the sin is forgiven for Christ's sake.
But the Law accuses and condemns our nature, not because we have been
created men by God, but because we are sinful and wicked; not because and
so far as nature and its essence, even since the Fall, is a work and
creature of God in us, but because and so far as it has been poisoned and
corrupted by sin.
Pastor Wheeler has asked me to alert you ahead of time: 1) there will be no
meeting in April due to the fact it is Easter Monday; 2) there will be no
meeting in May due to the fact it is the week of Spring Pastoral Conference in
Sioux City; 3) to make sure your nominations are in for synodical officers.
Pastor Nathan Sherrill has asked me to remind you of the following...to quote
him:
Please write these dates down. Tuesday through Thursday, June 15,
16, 17 we will host a HigherThings junior youth retreat for 5th-8th graders
here in Council Bluffs. We are inviting all interested
pastors, chaperones and confirmation students from the region. This three day
retreat will cost $85 per student. We have been given
generous access to the campus of Iowa School for the Deaf. Included in the
retreat is access to the ISD Lied center gymnasium, zero entry swimming pool,
lecture rooms, outdoor soccer and football field, picnic shelters and dorm
rooms. I will take care of scheduling and logistics. Clint Poppe is taking
care of securing presenters.
I hope that is everything.
We look forward to seeing many of you here on Monday morning, Christ-willing.
Dr. J. Christensen from Saint Paul, Council Bluffs, will again serve as our
guest organist.
Jesus is with you and your dear ones,
