The need for the Gospel to be preached in its purity and truth is ever-deepening, ever-broadening: as there are fewer and fewer committed to proclaiming Jesus in the way He has given us, there are more and more who have their need of the Gospel's comfort and strength going unmet.
At the same time, there are more and more pastors being unjustly removed or otherwise attacked by the devil and the world (and by their own sinful, dying flesh, as well). It is to their needs that The Augustana Ministerium bids you respond. Since our 2014 "Annual Theological Conference and Plenary," we have distributed another $5,000 in aid. That conference was…*just last month.* And the need? The need was *double* that $5000…at least. Many want to think that they are doing something for the future of their church bodies, the future of Confessional Lutheran preaching and teaching in our country, and so forth…but, seriously, how can we claim to be doing anything to secure the future if we're letting the pastors who teach purely 'die' in the present? If pastors have to keep on becoming something else—moving into various careers to pay the bills, and getting 'stuck' in them without the time to serve in Christ's holy Office…or if pastors, fearing for their families' ability to live, 'have to' start 'bending' the Word to keep the numbers in the parish to keep their salaries intact, what is that but 'killing off' the good pastors? With a need for *at least* $10,000.00 per month to distribute, I ask you to consider simply publicizing the work of The Augustana Ministerium—and membership in The Augustana Confraternity—in your own parish, encouraging as many donations as possible. Perhaps, if we can eliminate some of the pressure we can eliminate some of the manipulation, and we can help congregations get served as they ought and need to be by keeping pastors able to feed their families, pay their medical bills, and so on. Help us never have to say, "I'm sorry, but we just can't help right now" to those to whom we are privileged to extend the aid God provides through you—those who are not 'beggars' out to scam the system, but to men who are so devoted to taking care of others that even admitting that they *need* help is almost too much for them to do…almost to them as if they were criticizing the Lord's care for them or not trusting that He would help them (until they see that TAM is His means for helping them, at least). Thank you for your consideration of this. If you would like some materials to help you publicize our helping of pastors and to encourage joining TAM/TAC, please see our web site (especially our PDF brochures that can be printed and included in a bulletin or newsletter) at http://augustanaministerium.org Rev.
