I completely agree. I am in the planning stages for something almost exactly the same as you described for UGAF and since both sites run on the same platform, it could be implemented as a plugin. If anyone is interested in assisting (you would need to be familiar with writing custom WordPress plugins), give me a shout… or you can mow my lawn, babysit my daughter, and take my wife out to dinner so that I can work on it. Wait… scratch that last one.
