The issue isn't necessarily your file extension, though, that depends on howyour webserver is configured. Some of mine will process files endingin .html, .phtml, .xhtml, .xml and .php because I've configured them (thosewebservers, that is) that way.
I've worked for a few companies that have even used custom extensions. One used the acronym of the company name.
