Group,I am excited to announce some changes coming to the Utah PHP Users Group. After founding the group and nearly four years of service, the time has come for me to give another a chance to serve you in a primary leadership role. Due to an recent increase in personal commitments elsewhere, my ability to run things at the level the group requires has suffered and thus prompted this action. While this has been a very painful decision to make, I believe it to be the best step forward and that some exciting things are to come. It is time for some fresh energy and fresh ideas. It is time for others of you to step up and to bless us with your talents.
As of this evening, instead of a casual group of volunteers overseeing projects and fulfilling on tasks, we are going to implement something more official. I will be taking a step back to sit on a board, giving the responsibility of the day-to-day affairs to a president and a staff of various key positions. While each will be elected by the group by vote, I would like to instate our first president because he is the most qualified and due to the simple fact that he deserves it more than anyone else. Victor Villa has contributed to UPHPU in many capacities over the years and has been an invaluable asset, resource, and friend—in addition to our monthly meeting host and organizer of the Geek Lunches. Victor's energy and excitement will serve use very well and I am pleased to announce that he already has many new projects and ideas in the works. He will be contacting the list shortly in his new capacity and announcing how the elections will proceed.
While routine announcements and communication will not longer come from me directly, I will be here running the server, overseeing things generally, and hope to make it out to more meetings as our calendar continues to improve. I wish to thank every for all that they have contributed over the years and look forward to many more exciting things in the years to come.
Your friend, Wade Preston Shearer
