I have a small collection of training videos, and the one I liked was
PHP Essential Training, a 2 CD set from Lynda.com:

I could let your friend borrow my set. Or it costs $99. They've got a
new online training plan, $25 a month, and some annual choices, which
gives you access to everything they have. That includes a lot of Mac
apps as well.
