the comment with "proper markup" is what really caught my eye on this conversation. the point that i wanted to bring out is that if your markup follows the schema (dtd) for your document you will still have a valid document. however, the practice of only having one h1 per web page is more of best practice. (and i think this is where wps is coming from) http://www.led-digest.com/content/view/1776/172/ i just wanted to point out that it might be de facto standard but is not a de jure standard.
