rsync has a slick function (as described in the man page) called batching. It allows you to save the comparison that rsync does out to a file (a chache of sorts), allowing you to run the exact same synchronization on multiple severs faster. This sounds ideal for someone using rsync to deploy a load-balanced website to multiple servers. I am curious if anyone is using rsync's batch option? It says in the man page that it is not stable yet and shouldn't be used. I also discovered that it won't run in combination with the compress flag. Without compressing, I am wondering if you would even save much batching (over just running a standard rsync for each server.
