I've tried Prototype, Scriptaculous, Mootools, ExtJS and JQuery and myfavorite by far is JQuery. Performance is outstanding, community support is terrific, addon development is a breeze. Don't rule it out when selecting aJS framework.
and aren't I still going to have the same, default onmouseover behavior to deal with, regardless of the library I'm using? As I understand it, regardless of the tool being used to animate, I am still going to have to write a custom script that controls how the events are triggered (I throttle of sorts).
