A couple years ago a went to a several hour workshop on Zope and the main thing I got out of it is how insanely complex it is. It also seems to be incredibly powerful, if you are willing to spend the time learning how everything works. I don't know what your project is, but unless it includes interfacing with an existing zope instance or requires the use of zope for some reason, I'd look for alternatives.
