[UPHPU] MySQL int lenght?

The docs show that you can specify a length for a MySQL int field, but I don't see it used in any examples. What does length do? how is it used? what's the point? There is tinyint, smallint, int, etc, that are different sites. Is int [length] like how it works with varchar()?
