The other night Carmony gave a great presentation in which he discussed using svn and trac and the development process. One topic we discussed a bit was doing database migrations. Lots of people were interested in the topic.
I thought it would be a great project to work on. I did a little googling and found several projects that have been started already. http://code.google.com/p/ruckusing/ A Codeigniter project: http://codeigniter.com/wiki/Migrations/ And a CakePHP project: http://github.com/joelmoss/cakephp-db-migrations/tree/master I haven't had a chance to delve deeply into any of these so I can't vouch for the quality of any of the projects, but I thought that it would be interesting to get people's thoughts on this. Plus, I know some of the people interested in migrations last night are big CakePHP users.
