Yep. If I show you how will you tell me why on earth you would want such a monstrosity?
Believe me, considering this is not something I have done casually. I am designing the interface for a complex, back-office accounting application. One of the screens has a two-pane, independently- scrollable table where the user compares records. Each row contains a checkbox in the column closest to the "spine" (ie: the right column in the left-hand pane and the left column in the right-hand pane) so that the user can quickly browse, compare, and then select matches. The scrollbar of the left-hand pane is lands right between these two columns of checkboxes. As the two panes kind of act like a mirror image of each other, I am considering moving the left-hand pane's scrollbar to the left side to complete the mirroring and get it out of the way. Obviously, such a move comes with usability consequences and will require testing if we choose to pursue it.
