Thanks, Justin. After hours of googling, I just stumbled across that a few minutes ago. That is the most promising thing I have read. It appears to be headed exactly where I want to go but then stops short. The article says that it's to be continued but it's three years old. :( I just stumbled across a project called IERange. It looks like what I want.
