I would try something built on JQuery if possible, since that's what I use. I've seen this a few times, although I haven't used it: http://plugins.jquery.com/project/jrac You would then use ImageMagick to do the actual resizing. Unfortunately, this doesn't really answer your need for an integrated upload and resize/crop tool.
