Monty's version of "stable" hasn't always been the same as mine, but I think he's gotten better about that. This version of MySQL includes Percona's XtraDB storage engine (an enhanced version of InnoDB), the Sphinx storage engine (for interacting with the Sphinx full-text search engine), HandlerSocket (for fast NoSQL-like access to your tables), lots of optimizations to the query optimizer, and much more. Assuming no major problems are reported, I'll probably be switching to it sometime in the next month.
