Job Description: Primary responsibilities include troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing production issues, developing monitoring solutions, performing software maintenance and configuration, implementing fixes and updates of the software platform, updating, tracking and resolving technical issues. Responsibilities also include working alongside development, automating support and deployment processes, documentation of our system, and coordinate problem resolution activities. Successful candidate will have very good knowledge of Linux systems management solutions, very good scripting and programming skills, and very analytical and problem solving skills. Prior exposure to high throughput, large scale internet infrastructure would be a plus. The SaaS Operations engineer will be expected to quickly assess, analyze, and resolve site incidents in a fast paced environment, engaging the appropriate resources when needed and ensuring that issues are being communicated properly to the management, and that all changes to the infrastructure are being implemented in compliance to the process framework. Through your suggestions, design ideas, programs, and scripts, you will have the opportunity to contribute to building the most robust, scalable and high performing infrastructure to support the next generation SaaS Replicated Site platform. You will put your knowledge and experience to work to help design an automated infrastructure with self-healing capabilities. Strong in multi-tasking and in balancing several priorities, you will use your analytical skills to quickly prioritize, analyze, or escalate the alarms and events generate by the SaaS infrastructure. The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain composure and professionalism under high pressure. You must be able to identify problems before they happen and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages. You must be able to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, and work to improve the customer experience. Responsibilities: • Monitor and maintain the availability and performance of our systems • Run live diagnostic site traffic tools, monitoring system capacity, service configuration, and traffic routing • Escalate issues to the appropriate teams as needed to ensure the most efficient and expedient means to problem resolution • Communicate effectively and describe problems succinctly with sufficient detail so that you can hand-off an ongoing problem to another team or peer for completion • Contribute to developing tools to improve serviceability, and manageability of our infrastructure • Use ticketing, alerts, and email to document, track, inform and escalate issues to the appropriate parties Required Skills: • Minimum 1 - 2 years in Systems Administration/Engineering/DevOps, networking in a large environment, with knowledge of Cloud infrastructure components, including networking protocols, and software stacks commonly used in a Cloud environment • In-depth hands on experience with the Linux operating system, networking, server, and cloud architectures • Working experience as Linux/Unix system administration and/or network engineering skills • Experience with Apache, Mysql, PHP, Vagrant • Experience with Amazon Web Services or another cloud PaaS Extra consideration for these skills: • Broad knowledge of Linux application servers and web servers, networks and load balancers • Experience working with shell scripting, perl, ruby, and/or C preferably writing automation • Experience in creating software/scripts to automate production systems with some of the following: bash, perl, ruby, python, etc • Familiar and comfortable with the following: Chef, Puppet, Nginx, etc. • Familiar with continuous integration and testing methods • Load balancing techniques, traffic routing, and caching for distributed web applications, scalability • Experience with SQL databases, Cassandra, MongoDB, Riak or other NoSQL solutions would be a plus • Automating CI using tools such as Jenkins, Ant, Maven • Experience supporting clustered databases, large scale SNMP implementations and/or web hosting environments a plus • Excellent understanding of DNS, network security About Sound Concepts: Sound Concepts started 30 years ago duplicating audio cassette tapes for a group of leaders in the direct sales industry.
