EC2 has a firewall built in. Put your instance in the right security group, a voila, you have a firewall, you can even open or close ports that you need closed or opened. They even have some basic defaults that work pretty well. We’ve had pretty good success with it. It doesn’t included more advanced features like intrusion detection or virus scanning, so I guess it depends on your needs.
