this sort of communication is not defined in the jsr168 spec, but it has
been identified and formalized in the new spec.
we have a need for this as well. our plan is to wait as long as we can
to for an implementation of the new spec. but if we need to move
forward our strategy is...
1. place portlets that need to talk to one another in a common portlet
application context
2. create a sharable session object for these portlets
3. update the portlet adapter code to reload all portlets within a
portlet application context
we would likely be willing to partner on this implementation earlier...
if we could get a small working group together (i copied the dev list on
this in case there is interest).
